Rocking Your World Friday-Week 1

Well, here we are at the start of a brand new year. After being away from my blog for a couple of very busy weeks I'm glad to be back. Let's see what's made me happy over the last little while.

The week before Christmas, Mr R insisted that we drive my elderly parents to my sister's house in Ottawa where they would be spending Christmas. My sister was unable to drive down and get them and suggested that maybe they could take a coach. Mr R wouldn't hear of it and we made the 9 hour round trip so they could travel comfortably. They always do so much for us, it was nice to be able to do something for them in return.

On Christmas Eve I decided that I was tired of my hair, so I went from lower back length, curly brown hair to a jaw length blonde. I love it, and it was a huge shock to my extended family who can't remember when I had short hair last.

We had a lovely Christmas day at home and the Gorgeous was so excited to see what Santa had brought her. It all looked rather nice before the carnage began!

We had a lovely dinner with all the trimmings and plenty of leftovers for the next few days, which was a good thing as on the 27th I packed up the Gorgeous, Handsome Son and Beautiful Daughter-in-Law and headed to Ottawa for four days. We all converged on my sisters house, where my parents had spent Christmas, along with my niece, her husband and their 2 littles who came all the way from Australia. A good time was had by all, and many drinks were consumed by my niece and I (we go a little crazy when we get together as we only see each other every couple of years and we quite close in age). The Gorgeous really enjoyed meeting her cousins and had loads of fun playing with them. And modelling her new robe and slippers.

As a wonderful surprise, while I was away Mr R put away all the Christmas decorations and did all the laundry. Just one of the reasons I would never trade him in!

As we don't return back to work until January 11th, I'm hoping to get some serious card making in during the remaining time. I so enjoyed last years Xmas Card of the Month posts that I think I will so it again this year. As a bonus, all my Christmas cards are ready to go at the beginning of December.

Now, to link up with Virginia who always finds something positive in her life. It looks like Annie might be to busy smiling to post her Friday Smiles, but I can always catch up with her next week.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2016!

Hugs,
Michelle

  1. Ah a fabulous post, loved the before picture of your tree and presents, ours turned into carnage too! Love the photo - short and blonde it really suits you and so nice to have a face to the name as it were! Loving the fact your other half put away the tree and trimmings, we've just done it today - four trees and a stair garland away for another year - phew!

I must admit I do all my Christmas cards in January and then box them up and pop them away, I reuse what I can of the ones I receive so that'll be a task over the next few days, although I am thinking of doing some painted whimsical ones this year - but we shall see!

Hope you have a great week ahead - ooh another week off - if only that was the case!

  2. Your hair looks very nice Michelle. I had to smile because it reminded me of the first time I had short hair after thirty plus years of long plaits. You did a lot of travelling but I am sure it was worth it to have such a fun time with the family.
Enjoy your last week of holiday and take the opportunity to make something lovely. Happy 2016. Kate x
