WOYWW 351

It's good to see there are still friends in the playground at Julia's house. I mentioned in another post that I've been feeling poorly for the last several weeks. It's been a stretch just to get the dishes done and make sure everyone has clean underwear in the dressers, but that is not really doing much for my creative soul. To that end I have decided I need to give myself a kick in the creative rear end and just do something. I have made a few cards, but nothing except what I needed immediately. I think it's time to try and change that, so over the last few days I've made myself sit down at my desk. I have to admit, it's nice being creative, even if it's only for short periods of time.

This is what my desk looked like on Monday night. You can just see hints and peeks of what I was working on over the last couple of days.

And this evening I have this lovely pile of cards.

There's a new movement that has been started by a Shannon West in the USA called "I'm Bringing Birthdays Back" (#imbringingbirthdaysback). Basically her premise is that in our modern, fast-paced world, the computer has become our main way to communicate. Very few people send cards by good old-fashioned snail-mail anymore. Our mailboxes are filled with junk mail and bills. What a happy surprise it is to find a real letter or card in amongst the piles.

In the spirit of this movement, I'm sending out birthday cards to everyone that would like to receive one. Just send me an email with your name, address and birthdate to scrapworx@hotmail.ca

Has your birthday already passed? No problem, I'd still like to send you a card because everyone loves to receive happy mail!

If anyone else would like to join in, please do and we can spread mailbox smiles all over the world!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,
Michelle

  1. That's so very sweet of you! What a wonderful idea. You are right of course. I try to send out birthday cards. I'm not always right on time, but I do try!

You're teasing us with those cards! I hope the people who do receive them post pics when they come.

    Have a great week

  4. What a lovely thought, I still send the traditional good old fashioned posted cards to all the family and friends whose birthdays I know about, it is something of a monthly ritual if I'm honest and it's lovely!

  5. Oh I always send Birthday cards and try to make them personal to that person, especially close family.
Im not a fan of the email ones, I feel they are impersonal although I know it is much cheaper

  6. Yes, I'm with everyone else. I send real birthday cards. I love receiving them, so feel I want to send them. I do get email cards from my hubby, but that's cos he can't get out to buy them, and his hands are no longer dextrous enough to make them. Apart from that I'm not a fan of emailed cards - birthday or Christmas.
Take care. God bless - you have a wonderful idea there.

  7. I think it's our generation, I still prefer to use snail mail for cards and letters, but my daughter sees nothing impersonal at all in e.cards. It's very generous of you!

  9. Hi Michelle, Sorry to hear you have been poorly.
How sweet of you to offer to send birthday cards. My birthday is next month and i would love a birthday card as I don't get many, and no handmade ones at all.
    Have a good week,
